Rebuilding

This marks the beginning of Whirlybird Aerial Fitness.  A building of a new brand, a new community, a new me.  The past 15 years have been a building and rebuilding of my aerial life, and have led me to this latest endeavor.

It’s time to rebuild. . .again!  My aerial life started as a crazy hobby and a whirlwind winter and spring leading up to performing in the Triton Trouper Circus near Chicago, IL.  After a couple of years basking in the glow of this circus community, life led me away.   A new town (Knoxville, TN), a new husband, and a new daughter later, I started my aerial life again.  This time not only performing but teaching and learning how different bodies move in the air.  I’ve also had random injuries that kept me grounded: knife cut to the thumb, twisted ankle followed up with ankle surgery, and while trying to prove I still had it, a pulled oblique muscle.  I’ve had health scares that led to abdominal surgery.  Losses that led to depression and lack of motivation to keep showing up to warm up and train the same things again.  Each time, I learn something new about rebuilding.  Each time, I connect with a different aspect of aerial life that lifts my soul and strengthens me in so many ways.  From all these aerial life ups and downs, Whirlybird was born.  Now my mission is to create a space for all people to use aerial fitness as a way of exploring their capabilities, celebrate their own strengths, and overcome whatever obstacles life has thrown their way.  I welcome you to join this crazy adventure and see where we end up, hopefully a little closer to the clouds!
